Shri Shankar Maharaj Sevamandal, Chinchwad - An Introduction

Shri Shankar Maharaj Seva Mandal, Chinchwad

Shri Shankar Maharaj Seva Mandal, Chinchwad is a registered charitable organization (Reg. No. 7129, Pune) dedicated to serving society for the past 40 years through various social and humanitarian initiatives.

Over the years, the organization has successfully conducted more than 1,800 voluntary blood donation camps, through which more than 2 lakh people have donated blood in the service of humanity.

One of the organization's significant initiatives is “Snehsavali – Aapla Ghar”, a completely free-of-cost old-age home located at Charholi, near Alandi, in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area.

Snehsavali – Aapla Ghar

“Snehsavali – Aapla Ghar” provides care and support to 25 destitute and elderly individuals. The organization provides them with accommodation, nutritious food, clothing, and comprehensive medical care, completely free of cost.

The organization also bears the expenses of essential medical procedures and surgeries, including bypass surgery, cataract surgery, hip replacement, and other necessary treatments.

Supporting the Cause

To sustain this initiative and support its various social activities, the organization conducts several fundraising activities and appeals for public support.

One such initiative is “Raddi Daan and Bhangar Daan”, through which waste paper and scrap materials are collected from households and converted into funds to support the old-age home and other charitable activities.

Murti Amchi Kimmat Tumchi – Our Idol, Your Price

For the past 13 years, Shri Shankar Maharaj Seva Mandal, Chinchwad has also been organizing an eco-friendly Ganesh festival initiative called “Murti Amchi Kimmat Tumchi” (Our Idol, Your Price).

The funds generated through this initiative are utilized towards the operations of the old-age home and various other social and humanitarian activities.

Under this unique initiative, eco-friendly Ganesh idols are made using natural Shadu Mati (clay) and natural colours. The idols are displayed for devotees, who can select an idol and contribute an amount of their choice.

The initiative aims to:

  • Promote the use of eco-friendly Ganesh idols
  • Encourage environmentally responsible celebration of Ganesh festival
  • Provide devotees with high-quality, eco-friendly idols
  • Encourage community participation in social and humanitarian causes
  • Generate financial support for the organization's charitable initiatives

The project is founded on four core principles:

Environmental Protection | Service to Humanity | Spirituality | Nationalism

Our Own Old-Age Home Facility

With the vision of providing a permanent and dedicated facility for senior citizens, Shri Shankar Maharaj Seva Mandal, Chinchwad has purchased 4,000 sq. ft. of land at Mamurdi, within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area.

The construction of our own old-age home facility is scheduled to commence shortly. This will be an important step towards strengthening our efforts to provide care, dignity, shelter, and support to elderly individuals in need.
